Big 22
Congratulations to the 2011 Big 22, 5 Blocks of Granite and Coaches of the Year. All were honored at the Sixth Annual Big 22 Banquet on December 14 at Antone's Banquet Centre in Boardman where we announced the Ohio and Pennsylvania Players of the Year.

This year, Dan Graziano of Girard and DeShawn Coleman of Hickory took the honors. Congratulations to all players and coaches, we wish you continued success in the future.

Anthony Abeid - Youngstown Christian
Eagles senior tailback rushed for 1,389 yards this season, one of the 6 school records he holds. Abeid was also 1st team all-state on defense with 7 INT's.
Austin Barbato - Columbiana
Clippers senior quarterback finished with 1,335 yards rushing, 1,014 yards passing, and 24 total touchdowns. Barbato currently holds 6 school records on offense.
Nick Blower - Crestview
Rebels junior tailback finished with 1,872 yards rushing and 22 total touchdowns this season. Blower ran for more than 600 yards in Crestview's 3 playoff games.
Donnie Bolton - Western Reserve
Devils senior tailback finished with 2,572 yards rushing and 29 total touchdowns. Bolton was also 1st team all-state, and recorded 11 sacks on defense.
Devin Campbell - Boardman
Spartans senior tailback finished with 1,314 yards rushing, 431 yards receiving, and 21 total touchdowns. Campbell averaged 8.9 yards per carry this season.
Jeff Clegg - Western Reserve
Devils senior quarterback finished with 1,956 yards passing, 500 yards rushing, and 29 total touchdowns. Clegg was also 1st team all-state with 3 INT's on defense.
DeShawn Coleman - Hickory
Hornets junior broke a school and county record with 2,393 yards rushing, and scored 34 total touchdowns this season. Coleman averaged over 14 yards per carry.
Jesse Curry - Ursuline
Irish senior tailback rushed for 1,461 yards this season. Curry also ranks as Ursuline's career leader in tackles with 390. He's recorded 100+ 3 years in a row.
Ahmad Eggleston - Girard
Indians senior tailback finished with 1,826 yards rushing, 336 yards receiving, and scored 36 total touchdowns this season.
Anthony Franco - Lakeview
Bulldogs senior quarterback played in 8 games and still led the league in passing with 1,690 yards. Franco also rushed for 524 yards, and accounted 20 TD's.
Dan Graziano - Girard
Indians senior quarterback finished with 1,961 yards passing, 1,881 yards rushing, and accounted for a league leading 43 touchdowns this season.
Roosevelt Griffin - Cardinal Mooney
Cardinals senior tailback finished with 1,506 yards rushing and scored 17 touchdowns this season in route to Cardinal Mooney's 8th State title in school history.
Ja'les Hughes - Campbell
Devils senior tailback led the league in rushing with 1,574 yards and scored 22 total touchdowns this season. Hughes averaged almost 7 yards per carry.
Jordan Italiano - Canfield
Cardinals senior finished with 1,038 yards rushing, 664 yards passing, and 20 total touchdowns. Italiano also led the team in tackles with 69 and 3 INT's.
Kyle Mariacher - Mercer
Mustangs senior tailback finished with 2,314 yards rushing and scored 33 touchdowns this season. Mariacher also recorded 4 sacks on defense.
Ryan Mosora - Brookfield
Warriors junior tailback finished with 1,973 yards rushing, 126 yards receiving, and 18 total touchdowns. Mosora also recorded 3 INT's on defense.
Wesley Phipps - Grove City
Eagles senior tailback rushed for 1,430 yards and scored 22 total touchdowns this season. Phipps also recorded 82 tackles and 3 sacks on defense.
Zack Puckett - Southern
Indians senior tailback finished with 1,879 yards rushing, and 20 total touchdowns this season. Puckett averaged over 7 yards per carry.
Colin Reardon - Poland
Bulldogs senior quarterback finished with 1,154 yards passing, 278 yards rushing, and 6 total touchdowns. Reardon was also 1st team all-state as a punter.
Nick Russell - Springfield
Tigers senior quarterback led the league in passing with 2,377 yards, rushed for 655 yards, and accounted for 31 total touchdowns this season.
De'Veon Smith - Howland
Tigers junior tailback broke a school record with 2,161 yards rushing and scored 25 touchdowns this season. Smith also recorded 74 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 INT's on defense.
Anthony Stanko - Howland
Tigers senior lineman stands 6'5" and weighs 290 pounds, graded out at 83%, and recorded 27 pancake blocks. Stanko is verbally committed to Penn State.

Matt Bell - Hickory
Hornets senior lineman led the team in tackles this season with 11 per game. Bell also graded out at 94% on offense, and is verbally committed to YSU.
Dan Moody - Howland
Tigers senior lineman stands 6'2", weighs 245 pounds, and is a 3 year starter for Howland. Moody graded out at over 81% and is verbally committed to Harvard.
Tyler Powell - Western Reserve
Devils senior lineman stands 6'3'' and weighs 320 pounds, and graded out at 90% this season. Powell anchored an offensive that led the league in rushing.
Billy Price - Fitch
Falcons junior lineman graded out at 86% this season. Price recorded 40 tackles, 10 for loss, 3 sacks, and 1 interception. He has offers from several major college programs.
Austin Trgovcich - Cardinal Mooney
Cardinals senior lineman stands 6'3", weighs 290 pounds, and was a 1st team all-state selection. Trgovcich anchors a line that rushed for over 246 yards per game.

Coach of the Year

Jeff Bell - Grove City
His Eagles finished the regular season undefeated and tied a school record with 11 wins. Grove City also and won the Class AAA District X Championship for the first time since 2005.
Nick Cochran - Girard
His Indians tied a school record with 11 wins, and won the AAC Blue Division title. Girard qualified for the Division IV playoffs and finished in the Regional Championship game.
Paul Cusick - Crestivew
His Rebels won 9 straight in the regular season to claim their 4th consecutive ITCL title. Crestview qualified for the Division V playoffs and finished in the Regional Championship game.
P.J. Fecko - Cardinal Mooney
His Cards survived one of the toughest regular season schedules in the state, and then beat three undefeated Number One seeds in playoffs to claim the school's 8th State title.
Andy Hake - Western Reserve
His Blue Devils finished the regular season undefeated, ITCL champions, and ranked Number One in the state. Western Reserve won 13 games and captured the school's 1st Regional title.
Brian Marrow - Youngstown Christian
His Eagles turned a 1-9 season a year ago, into a 9-1 regular season mark in 2011. Youngstown Christian also earned the first playoff berth in school history, and the programs 1st ever playoff win.

Ryan Allison Bio

Ryan Allison has been at WKBN-TV since July of 1998. He joined the First News Sports Department in October of 2001, and now serves as the Sports Director for WKBN, WYFX, and WYTV.  Ryan has been with myvalleysports.com since its launch in 2008.

Allison was born in Warren, Ohio and graduated from Howland High School in 1995. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Telecommunications from Youngstown State University in 1999.

Allison currently resides in Howland with wife, Nicole, and two sons, Owen and Arran. He is an avid boxing fan and spends his free time golfing and coaching his kid's soccer team. His favorite part of the job is covering High School Football, Youngstown State, and Kelly Pavilk fights across the country.
