YSU Finishes Second at NIU Snowbird Inviational

The Youngstown State women's golf team placed second at the 13-team Northern Illinois Snowbird Invitational which concluded on Thursday at Pebblecreek Golf and County Club.

Leading the way for the Penguins was sophomore Samantha Formeck who placed second in the two-round event. In the team race, YSU tied Indiana State with a two-round score of 650 (322-328). Methodist won the event with a 645.

Formeck carded a two-round total of 155 with rounds of 80 and 75. Her 75 on Thursday was the lowest round of the team. Winning the event was Indiana State's Breanne Smith who finished with a 153.

Other finishers for the Penguins included Katie Rogner with a 161 (77-84) tying her for seventh; Ann Ciavarella was 17th with a 166 (81-85); Sarah Heimlich was 22nd with a 168 (84-84) and Brittany Stillwagon was 35th with a 176 (89-87).
