The YSU Men's Basketball team drops to 1-2 following a 70-61 setback to Kent State Wednesday night at the Beeghly Center. The Penguins placed three players in double-figures in the loss. Sirlester Martin and Vytas Sulskis each scored fifteen while DeAndre Mays chipped in with 14.
The Penguins shot 39.6% from the floor, but went scoreless for nearly nine minutes in the second half. In addition, the Penguins connected on just 19-28 free throws on the night, while committing 19 turnovers as a team.
Kent State placed three players in double figures and were led by Tyree Evans who scored 18, including three from behind three-point line. Justin Greene added seventeen, while Rodriguez Sherman and Anthony Simpson scored fifteen and twelve respectively.
Kent State improves to 3-1 on the season, while Youngstown State drops to 1-2 on the campaign. The Golden Flashes return to the floor Sunday at Rochester at 7pm, while the Penguins hit the road to meet St. Peter's on Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 2pm.
