Brandon Summers 73-yard touchdown run capped another come from behind victory for Youngstown State, 38-21. Summers broke loose in the fourth quarter with the Guins leading by ten points. It's the longest run by any quarterback in team history. An onside kick to begin the second half set the Penguins up for a shot at their first lead. Stephen Blose connected from 36 yards as YSU took a three point lead, 17-14. The defense gave the Guins a ten point edge as Andre Elliot returned an interception 24 yards. YSU led 24-14. After Northeastern was cut the deficit to three points, YSU went back up by ten on a Brandon Summers one-yard touchdown run. Youngstown State's defense came up with its biggest stop of the game in the fourth quarter. With the Huskies facing a fourth down at YSU's seven yard line, the Guins held and took over possession. A couple plays later, Summers broke free for his record setting run. YSU had fallen behind early after surrendering a 76 yard punt return for a touchdown. The Guins tied it at 7-7 on a Summers short touchdown run in the second quarter. Trailing 14-7 late in the second quarter Summers connected with Dominique Barnes from 32 yards out to tie the game, 14-14. Youngstown State improves to 2-1 overall. The Guins open Missouri Valley Football Conference play next week on the road at Indiana State.
