Tacoma's closer, Justin Thomas (former YSU Penguin), shut the door on Sacramento in the 9th inning last night to secure the 6-4 win and his 4th save of the season. The Rainiers improved to 32-28, two and a half games behind the Pacific Coast League North leading Colorado Springs Sky Sox and Salt Lake Bees.
Thomas had struggled through a stretch in late May where he gave up 8 earned runs in 4.1 innings of work. He has found his control and he has pitched brilliantly in two consecutive games only giving up one hit over that period.
Justin was the ace of the pitching staff of the Penguins' 2004 Horizon League Championship club.
