The Houston Astros assigned fourteen players who they had drafted a week ago in the 2010 Major League Baseball amateur draft, including former YSU shortstop Jacke Healey, to Class A short-season Tri-City in Troy, New York. Healey was taken in the twenty-seventh round by Houston.

Joining Healey on the roster is former Minnesota Golden Gopher Michael Kvasnicka. The third baseman was drafted in the first supplemental round of the 2010 Draft.

Last year, the Valleycats struggled to the finish line as Tri-City recorded a 27-48 mark closing out the regular season in last place in the Stedler Division. Tri-City last won the New York-Pennsylvania League Championship in 1984 (known as the Pittsfield Mets). In 2004, Astro outfielder Hunter Pence called Troy his home as the Valleycats won the Stedler Division title.

The 'Cats open the 2010 campaign on Friday at 7 p.m. when Tri-City plays host to the Connecticut Tigers.
