The 2009 Canadian Football League playoffs begin this Sunday. This weekend will mark the first post season game for former Youngstown State standout linebacker and current Calgary Stampeder Tim Johnson since he was a member of the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl 37 on January 27, 2003. Johnson blocked the Buccaneers' Tom Tupa's punt attempt which resulted in Eric Johnson scooping up the ball and carrying it in from thirteen yards out for a score. The Buccaneers prevailed, 48-21.

On Sunday (November 15) at 4:30 PM/EST, the Stampeders (10-7-1) will host the Edmonton Eskimos (9-9) in a Western Conference semifinal matchup. The winner will play the Saskatchewan Roughriders (10-7-1) in the Western Conference Finals next weekend. Johnson finished the regular season with 54 tackles (4th on the team) and a quarterback sack. The Fairfield, Alabama native had his best three games of the season statistically against the Eskimos. He had a season high 10-tackle game on September 11 versus the green and yellow.

Calgary lost their season finale last weekend, 30-14, against Saskatchewan.
