Cleveland Gladiators
The Gladiators are in third place in the National Conference's Midwest Division with a 5-6 record...The former Warren Harding standout Anthony Hoke is enjoying a fine rookie season in the Arena Football League. Hoke is currently third in the league with 5.5 quarterback sacks. Number 13 has accounted for 18 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in ten games this season. The 6'2 pass rusher played his college ball at Cincinnati where he was named the 2004 Conference USA Freshman of the Year. During his stay as a Bearcat, the team went 36-4. Hoke played for the Green Bay Blizzard of af2 last season...Former Thunder wide out, Chris Johnson, has caught on in Cleveland this year by snagging 91 receptions (tied 6th in AFL) for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns. Entering the season, Johnson had played a total of five years in Arena Football and had compiled 129 catches (1638 yards, 30 touchdowns). He is on pace to shatter that mark by years' end...The Gladiators hit the road this weekend to take on Tulsa on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Jacksonville Sharks
Jacksonville's second-year defensive back, Jason Perry, eclipsed his 2008 personal record for tackles in a single season by garnering 58 stops this year. In 2010, the 5'8 former Youngstown State Penguin has accounted for six breakups and an interception...The Sharks are in a first place tie with Tampa Bay (7-3). It's 'Disco Night' at Veterans Memorial Arena as the Sharks welcome the Arizona Rattlers for a 7:05 p.m. start this Saturday.
