Five Local Players Earn All-PAC Honors

Five local college baseball players, 4 from Westminster and one from Thiel, have earned recognition from the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Westminster senior outfielder Rick DeBlasio (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) and Thiel junior pitcher Brad Bates (Kinsman, Ohio/Badger) earned first-team all-PAC honors.

DeBlasio ranks fifth in the PAC with a .405 batting average (47-116) which includes 23 RBI and a team-high three home runs.

Bates leads the PAC with a 2.23 ERA and also leads in innings pitched (72.2). He is ranked second in strikeouts (54) and fifth in complete games (4). He amassed a 6-3 record.

Westminster junior pitcher Patrick Mulligan (Brookfield, Ohio/Brookfield) received a nod for the second team.

Mulligan ranks third in the league in wins with a 7-3 record, while he also ranks fourth in innings pitched (67.0), fourth in strikeouts (49) and third in complete games (5) to go with his 4.84 earned-run average.

Westminster players receiving honorable mentions for the all-PAC teams include junior catcher David Schafer (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory),and sophomore outfielder Kyle Allen (New Wilmington, Pa./West Middlesex).

Allen batted .341 (43-126), Schafer clubbed .318 (27-85).
