The Thiel College men’s and women’s track and field teams will be represented by freshman athlete, Brittany Brown (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial), and senior runner, Alex Eaton (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.), at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships this weekend.

Brown earned her qualifying mark of 3201 in the pentathlon on Feb. 18 when she shattered Thiel’s all-time record in the event. The Pelham, N.Y. native also just missed the qualifying mark in the 55-meter high hurdles by .06.

“It a tremendous accomplishment for Brittany to qualify for nationals so early in her career,” said the Coach Steve Carr. “We hope this will be the first of many trips she’ll be making over the course of four years."

Eaton is headed to indoor nationals for the second consecutive year to compete in the 400-meter dash. The Erie, Pa. native’s qualifying time of 49.03 ranks as the fifth fastest time in the nation.

“Alex is more than experienced on what he needs to do for a successful race at nationals,” said the first year head man. “I am excited to see what he does once the gun goes off.”

The NCAA Division III Indoor Championships will begin Thursday at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
