Emily Batiz (Leechburg, PA/Leechburg Area) became Thiel College softball’s first Presidents' Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

The junior pitcher earned the honor after a virtuoso performance from the mound in her Saturday shutout of La Roche College.

Batiz picked up her second victory of the season over the Redhawks, striking out, a season-high, 13 batters, while allowing only three hits. The Leechburg, Pa. native hasn’t given up a run in her last 10 innings pitched.

Batiz and the ‘Cats return to action on Tuesday, March 30 when they head to Penn State Behrend for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.
