LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University freshman outside hitter Kristy Lake (Boardman, Ohio / Boardman) was selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division Volleyball Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Lake led Slippery Rock (9-0) to a 4-0 record at last weekend’s PSAC-WVIAC crossover, recording 41 kills, a .270 hitting percentage, 20 digs, four blocks, three aces and one assist in wins over Davis & Elkins, Fairmont State, Shepherd and West Virginia State.
Lake had two double-digit kill efforts in SRU’s four wins including a season-high 15 kills against West Virginia Wesleyan and 10 kills against Fairmont State. The Boardman, Ohio native also had two aces in Slippery Rock’s win at Shepherd and nine kills against Davis & Elkins.
For the season, Lake has 88 kills, a .253 hitting percentage, six aces, 55 digs and eight blocks.
Slippery Rock will look to keep its perfect record intact when it hosts Alderson-Broaddus at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Morrow Field House.
