Lightweight Dangerous Dannie Williams improved to 18-1 (14 KOs) with a 10-round unanimous decision over Oscar Cuero Friday night in the main event of The Real Deal at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.
Williams battled both Cuero and his long hair, which continually got into his eyes and got him out of his rhythm at times throughout the fight. In the tenth round, Williams had his hair taped, and he turned it on from there, coming away with the unanimous decision 99-91, 97-93, 97-93.
"I'm disappointed, because I didn't look as good as I should," said Williams. "I was overwhelmed. I hurt my hand in the middle, so I'm alright. I won. I got out of there safe, and I'll train hard for the next one."
"I was more concerned about the damn hair in his eyes, you know what I mean," stated trainer Jack Loew. "You keep the hair out of his eyes, he probably doesn't get hit a few times, but we're going to take care of that issue."
Cuero drops to 13-7 in his career.
