One of the best young boxers in the Valley will headline another local bout next weekend.
Seventeen-year-old amateur champion, Alejandro Popo Salinas, will be the main event at a show on February 4 at St. Lucy's Hall in Campbell.
The card will feature at least 15 amateur bouts and is loaded with local talent. The Southside Boxing Club is matching these area fighters against some of the best from Canada. In fact, Salinas is slated to take on one of Canada's national champions.
"I always like a challenge," says Salinas. "I like to get punched more and more. It's good to fight kids that are up there, so I have to get my name up there, too."
Salinas's trainer, Jack Loew, adds, "He has it all. He can punch. He can take a punch. He's got the looks. He's got the work habits. Everything he has is full go and he's the whole package."
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the first bout beginning at 7:30 p.m.
